The Magic of Markets and Why I Keep Coming Back

The Magic of Craft Markets
(And Why I Keep Coming Back)
There’s a very special kind of magic that happens at craft markets—a blend of conversation, curiosity, and connection that doesn’t quite translate online. As much as I love the solitude of painting, it’s deeply meaningful to connect with you in person.
I love hearing your stories—about your childhood pets, the loss of loved ones, the deep personal meanings you find in my work. I believe it’s an essential part of art-making: to connect with those the work is for. Those who live with it, look at it daily, and create your own webs of meaning around it.

I’ve been lucky to sell at a range of beautifully weird markets over the years, including the Oddities and Curiosities Expo, Crafty Wonderland, Market of the Beast, and Portland Night Market. These spaces are more than just marketplaces—they're ecosystems of creativity and community.
At them, I’ve made lifelong friends with other vendors, shared life updates with familiar faces, and gotten to witness brand new folks light up when they connect with something at my booth.
You’ll find all of my goods at these events—prints, pins, stickers, books, apparel, and other odd treasures—each one rooted in storytelling and the complex symbolism of having a body, navigating emotion, and finding beauty in the shadow parts of life.
What keeps me coming back, though, is the brightness I feel after meeting all of you. You’re warm and welcoming. You share your love of animals and stories about your lives. I’ve laughed with strangers, cried with others, and felt the kind of intimacy that only happens when art opens a doorway between two people.
If you ever find yourself at one of these events, please come say hi. You can’t miss my booth—it’s the one with the strange beings, soft shadows, and (hopefully) a bit of sparkle in the air. 🌙
